SmartBuild was developed to solve one of the traditional weak points in aluminium trailer construction — welding. Welding introduces heat into the alloy, creating heat-affected zones that can reduce the material’s original strength and, under repeated loading, can become more susceptible to fatigue cracking if not properly engineered and treated. On New Zealand roads, that matters.
Our answer is a precision-engineered bolt-together aluminium chassis. By mechanically fastening the main structure, we avoid unnecessary heat distortion while creating a strong, modular trailer that is easier to inspect, service and repair.
The bolt-together design also creates another major advantage: you can build it yourself. SmartBuild can be supplied as a complete flat-pack kit, allowing capable owners, dealers and boat builders to save on assembly costs — or choose a fully factory-built trailer from Freeway.
